This role is central to our mission, focusing on building robust ground segment software for space communications. Design patterns involving message queues, APIs, and complex networking setups.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and own scalable microservices that interface with RF systems, mission control software, and third-party ground station APIs.Develop containerized applications and deploy them using Docker to both cloud and edge environments, including ground stations and customer deployments.Integrate observability and reliability into every service - metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, and alerting.Contribute to system design reviews, architecture discussions, and documentation of interfaces and operational flows.Monitor and optimize system performance and resource utilization across cloud and edge environments to ensure high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance.Participate in on-call rotations, perform root-cause analysis of incidents, and drive continuous improvements in reliability and deployment practices.Ensure software security and compliance through rigorous testing, code reviews, and secure deployment practices.Preferred QualificationsProficiency in Python with a strong understanding of best practices, design patterns, and modern Python frameworks.Experience with Docker for containerization and deployment in both cloud and edge environments.Experience with Kubernetes.Experience with centralized logging, alerting, metrics, and tracing infrastructure.Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and infrastructure-as-code tools.Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in Linux-based environments.Knowledge of network communication protocols and distributed systems.BonusNote: none of these required at all, but these topics will come up in day-to-day workExperience with GNURadio.Experience with digital signal processing (DSP)Experience with satellite networking.

For the most demanding space and defense missions, AnySignal provides a flexible platform with world-class performance that is easy to deploy, monitor, purchase, and upgrade.Our team has a diverse range of backgrounds that cover cloud computing to artificial intelligence, communications and sensing, embedded systems, and much more.As an Embedded Software engineer on the Space team, your work will traverse the entirety of the embedded stack, involving everything from low-level RF integrated circuit driver development to high-speed interfaces with the FPGA fabric to reliable networking and radiation-resilient software architecture.
